Iranian film foundation hails Farhadi’s Oscar winning

Farabi Cinema Foundation congratulates Asghar Farhadi on winning 2nd Academy Award for ‘The Salesman’.

Managing Director of Farabi Cinema Foundation (FCF) Ali Tabesh has congratulated Asghar Farhadi on winning 2nd Academy Award for ‘The Salesman’.

Publishing a message to the multi-Oscar-winner director, Tabesh described Farhadi as a “shiny star at the sky of art.”

The distinguished moviemaker won his first Oscar award in 2012 for ‘A Separation.’

Describing the win as “another prideful moment that ornaments the history of this country”, the managing director wrote “Asghar Farhadi, just like all elite figures of this sacred land, ignorant of all awards and honors gained for his country, will forever be in heart of all his countrymen.”

“Patriotism based on humanitarian beliefs and ideas makes these elite people, such as Asghar Farhadi, a shiny star on the sky of art, which no aggressive and oppressive policy is able to shrink,” he continued.

Calling Farhadi a memorable figure throughout different ages and eras, Tabesh noted “It is his discretion, wisdom, virtue, dignity, as well as national and international perspective that makes him look beyond colors and races, and respects each and every one of them.”

Expressing his hopes for eleveation of Farhadi’s flag against the racist impurity and ugliness, he concluded “Stay and make films so the humanity can survive.”

The Iran Organization of Cinema, Farabi, and Khane-e-Cinema, in a coordinated and harmonious attempt, arranged for all the presentation and introduction sessions for ‘The Salesman’.

Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi won his second Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th edition of the Academy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles, California, on February 26.

Following Trump’s executive order banning nationals of seven countries including Iran from entering the US, Farhadi boycotted the Academy Awards as a sign of protest.

Former Iranian NASA director Firouz Naderi and Iranian-American engineer Anousheh Ansari represented Farhadi at the ceremony and accepted the award on his behalf.

Established in 1983, Farabi Cinema Foundation is the major organization involved in domestic film industry and the main representative of the Iranian Cinema abroad.
